A day on Lake Bacalar

A friend of mine from America, whom I've known for 10 years, came to visit, so I took him to my favorite lake, Lake Bacalar. After all, Lake Bacalar is a freshwater lake, so there's no need to worry about seaweed washing ashore. Here's where Lake Bacalar is located... As I wrote before, it's a long lake, stretching 55km in length, so the key is where you play. The best place to see the water is near the center of Bacalar (Centro), which has a lot of shallow water. Recently, I've been loving this pier! For an entrance fee of 20 pesos, you can go in and out as many times as you like in a day! It feels great to jump into the lake from this pier and swim! It's pretty shallow, so even children can play safely! Just looking at this gradation of blue makes me happy! It's an eco-park, so it's fun to see the mangrove forest from above! There are also toilets under the pier (for a 5 peso charge), so you can play safely! However, bringing plastic bags, tobacco, and alcohol are not allowed, so you can't have a party on the pier, but if you bring your own bottled drinks, there's no problem! Beach clubs on the shores of Lake Bacalar charge hundreds of pesos for admission, so this park is very reasonable! **** Another interesting place is Los Rapidos, where the lake narrows very quickly. Here's where it's located. The lake narrows suddenly, so a small current is created, and if you're in a boat, you're naturally carried away. This "natural lazy river" is popular. However, when you come back, you go against the current, so you have to paddle really hard... lol But there are a lot of people who enjoy this natural flow in canoes, so this area is very popular. I don't like water activities in general, but my friend wants to go canoeing! So, I went to this area for the first time! However, the area around Los Rapidos is very lively and crowded, so I went to a place just outside where locals go... (Unfortunately, the name is not disclosed due to circumstances. Sorry.) It's a very quiet place that only locals visit. It costs 150 pesos to rent this covered place for a day. The color of the water is beautiful! Even though I don't like underwater activities, I swam here! The water is so clear! Since I went there in the morning, I had breakfast first. Huevo a la Mexicana, a classic Mexican egg dish. Scrambled eggs with onions, tomatoes, chili (or bell peppers), and tomatoes. It also comes with cheese, frijoles, and tortillas. All of this costs 120 pesos, which is a reasonable price for Bacalar! After playing a lot, I had grilled fish for lunch. Grilled fish, a little frijoles, rice,
fried plantains, and salad.
All this came with tortillas, for 150 pesos.
What a good deal!
As the afternoon approached, more and more locals arrived,
and the lakeside was filled with families!
As the sun went down, the color of the water got darker and darker,
presenting a completely different view from the morning.
After spending a whole day at Lake Bacalar,
I felt incredibly refreshed!
